McAlester Public Schools is proud to announce the relaunch of its Investing in Our Herd bond initiative following a unanimous vote by the MPS Board of Education to pursue a $4.7 million bond proposal dedicated to constructing a brand-new STEM facility on the high school campus equipped with a state-of-the-art safe room. This project, originally included in the earlier 2025 bond package, remains a top priority in advancing innovative learning opportunities and enhancing student safety across the district.
The proposed facility will house modern STEM classrooms and dedicated space for our growing aerospace and robotics programs, as well as hands-on learning labs designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—while also serving as a fully compliant storm shelter for students and staff.
“Our vision for McAlester Public Schools is rooted in preparing students for the future while ensuring their safety each day,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Steeber. “This bond reflects our community’s continued commitment to empowering our herd with world-class learning environments. We are excited to move forward and provide our students with the tools, spaces, and protections they deserve.”
Voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
